Athletics, shooting and swimming contributed to raising the UAE’s medals to 14, with three gold, six silver and five bronze, with the possibility of increasing the medals tally in all other competitions in the sports in which the UAE participates. The UAE is represented by 285 male and female athletes in 16 individual and team games. The shooting team continued its brilliance after adding two silvers in the “dirt” in the teams category through Ahmed Yahya, Zaher Al-Ariani and Yahya Al-Muhairi, and the 10-meter air rifle competition by Ibrahim Ali, as part of the shooting competitions hosted by the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The shooting team came second in “dirt” with 341 dishes, while Kuwait achieved first place with 364 dishes, and the Saudi team ranked third with 310 dishes.

Ahmed Yahya, Dhaher Al-Ariani and Yahya Al-Muhairi, among the best 8 shooters, qualified for the final rounds in the “Trab” competition for the individual category, but they were not lucky to reach the final, while the first three places were crowned by Kuwait’s shooters in the singles, namely Nasser, the gold winner, runner-up Talal Al-Rashidi and the third, Abdul Rahman Al-Faihhan.

Ibrahim Ali won the second place in the 10m air rifle competition, after qualifying for the final confrontation that brought him together with Omani Salem Al-Naabi, the gold winner, while Omani Issam Al-Balushi achieved third place.
