With the implementation of the new system of work by the United Arab Emirates, the idea began to gain great global attention, especially in the United States and some European countries.
The top 30 companies in the UK are preparing to take part in a global effort to offer official working days only four days a week, while offering the same pay.
The UAE has set official working days and hours for Ministries and Federalities for 2022 from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and from 7 am to 7 pm on Fridays: from 30 am to 12 noon.
Under the new system, the weekend has been extended to two and a half days at the state level, Saturday and Sunday, and half a working day on Friday.
This decision came into effect on 1/1/2022.
According to The Independent, a similar initiative has been launched in the UK, led by 30 companies.
The initiative, called the “Short Work Week”, will pay employees of these companies 5 days per week equal to the pay they were paid during their work.
The initiative will be overseen by a research firm called Autonomy, which is responsible for the 4-day UK campaign, and by a number of researchers at Oxford University, Boston University and Cambridge University.
5 countries are conducting the test
Knowing that similar tests will be launched in many countries, such as the United States, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, workers participating in this test must pay 100% of their productivity.
Of the 30 companies participating in the initiative, Canon Technologies will assign tasks to its employees to ensure the best outcome of this experience.
The newspaper quoted “Joe O’Connor” as one of the executives responsible for the 4-day global initiative, saying that many companies and organizations around the world are following this trend by reducing working hours by offering the same pay.
International evidence points to the contribution of the 4-day work system to increasing productivity in 60% of companies, with productivity gains in some cases as high as 40%, according to estimates by several international organizations concerned with human resources. .
The new work method offers more flexibility and time to promote family and social cohesion, and allows individuals from different sections of society to develop their skills and achieve a balanced balance between personal life and work needs, which in a positive way affects the productivity and performance of employees at work.
