Skoda Auto has half of the endangered models, parts of Ukraine are missing

Škoda Auto, which has 40,000 employees, is in a critical situation. “Cable wires are running out and there is no alternative production. It is very difficult to predict the development and it is not possible to estimate exactly what day the lines will stop and how long they will stop,” confirmed Skoda Otto spokeswoman Simona Havelikova Brava.

“The situation is very difficult and dangerous for us,” added spokesperson Štopan Shehak, who is responsible for the Enyaq model, which has been in production for more than a week.

At the same time, the automaker has yet to resolve replacement deliveries of door panels for the best-selling Octavia model. Although these cars are being manufactured, they are left unfinished and waiting for the doors to be finished.

At the end of January, a huge fire destroyed the production and storage halls of one of the auto suppliers, which supplied door panels for cars, right in Mladá Boleslav. Four out of eight models are now in a critical situation. “The production of Fabia, Superb, Kodiak and Karoq continues,” Havlikova added.

The company has been studying and may still be studying the possibility of transferring full production of cable belts from Ukraine to the Czech Republic. However, the transfer will likely affect hundreds of employees and their families, which is not easy to implement.
