SpaceX announced its readiness to launch its first tourist flight into space, Inspiration4, on September 15, after the flight crew, its rocket and ground-based launch systems passed the readiness test, according to an official statement by the company.
The flight does not include astronauts; As its crew is entirely civilian, and received 6 months of training through test flights in centrifuges, in addition to training in zero gravity, and other training for dealing with the operation of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, which will carry them on board during their journey to space, according to a SpaceX statement. The space services company explained that the crew of its flight will not be satisfied with recreation on its first space flight, but will have many tasks that must be accomplished, foremost of which are experiments related to human health, over the course of the three days of the trip outside Earth.
Jared Isakman, Inspiration4 flight crew chief, stressed that completing the missions of the flight will facilitate the task of future space flights, and will benefit humanity for generations to come.
Joining “Isakman” on the flight, Haley Arsenowsian, a 29-year-old assistant doctor, is preparing to set many records during her time in space, as she is the first bone cancer survivor to visit space, and the youngest American to travel outside Earth, in addition to to being the first to visit space with a prosthetic limb. The other two members are Shan Proctor, a trained pilot doctor, who succeeded in snatching a ticket through an electronic competition in his work, and the other is Christopher Sembrowsky, a military fighter in the US Air Force, who earned his ticket by supporting St. Judy Children’s Research, for which the trip aims to raise $200 million in donations.
