Laayoune – The topic “Spanish, a language of communication, science and work” was the focus of the two academic days organized by the Regional Academy of Education and Training in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, and the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Ibn Zahr University (Spanish Studies Division), at the Palais des Congrès in Laayoune.
These two academic days, organized with the support of the Association for Educational Innovation and Vocational Rehabilitation in Laayoune, fall in line with the objectives of institutional parallel diplomacy.
The President of Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, Mr. Aziz Bendou, highlighted, during this meeting, which was attended by the Wali of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, the governor of the Laayoune region, Mr. Abdel Salam Bakrat, that the aim of this meeting is to provide a platform for interaction and discussion, and the exchange of experiences and ideas among the participants.
He pointed out, in a speech read on his behalf by the Director of the Higher School of Technology, Mr. Hamid Al-Rakibi Al-Idrisi, during the opening session of this meeting, that the presence of a number of scientific activities adds an important value to the scientific dialogue between these scientific inspirations in order to clarify the lived reality in the field of teaching the Spanish language and knowing the reservoirs Strength and weakness, and ways to develop and benefit from them at the national and external levels.
Mr. Bendou added that studying the Spanish language is not just learning words and grammar, but rather a journey in exploring a rich and amazing cultural heritage, being an attractive language rich in wonderful poetic and literary expressions, adding that the Spanish language is an important business language in today’s world, and the language of communication in many countries. Economic and trade sectors, and provide ample opportunities for cooperation and work at the international level.
In this regard, Aziz Bendou proposed the establishment of a scientific university chair, hosted by Ibn Zahr University, that brings together intellectuals and academics from the two countries. It is called “Ibn Zahr”, given the importance of “continuity of meeting, dialogue and communication between the two neighboring kingdoms in the cultural, scientific and university field”, in order to Constant research and reflection on matters of development, culture and science, highlighting that this initiative will inevitably contribute to promoting and strengthening ties of cooperation in many fields.
For his part, the director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Mr. Embark El Hansali, highlighted that the topic of these two academic days constitutes an opportunity to consolidate the Moroccan-Spanish relationship, considering the Spanish language as an essential entry point for communication on various strategic issues, and as a basis for linguistic empowerment and encouragement among learners within the framework of The second commitment related to the student axis within the 2022-2026 roadmap.
Mr. Al-Hansali added that the axes of this meeting touched on an aspect of the horizons of the Spanish language within the present parallel diplomacy in the Moroccan-Spanish relations, its importance for parallel diplomacy and scientific research and its professional prospects, and its use in the cultural, tourism, economic, education, press and health fields, within a global map, in which the Spanish language confirms its presence in different countries.
The program for these two academic days includes the organization of a series of scientific sessions and interventions centered on “The Horizons of the Spanish Language within the Present Parallel Diplomacy in Moroccan-Spanish Relations”, “The Division of Spanish Studies… A Window on the Spanish-Speaking World”, and “The Importance of the Spanish Language in Morocco’s Relations Abroad”. And “The Importance of the Spanish Language for Parallel Diplomacy and Scientific Research”, “Spanish and Translation: Professional Perspectives and Cultural Stakes”, Spanish and Journalism”, “Spanish in Smara: A Language Connecting Two Worlds”, and Future Prospects for Learning Professional Spanish.
