Investing.com – United Kingdom stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday.

The best performers of the session were BT Group plc (LON: ), which rose 2.06% or 2.35 points to end at 116.25. Rather, stocks Centrica PLC (LON: ) added 1.61% or 1.46 points to end at 91.98. Admiral Group PLC (LON: ) was up 1.61% or 33.00 points to trade at 2,085.00 at the end of the session.
Regarding the worst performers of the day’s trade, Tui AG (LON: ) lost 7.99% or 11.80 points to trade at 135.85 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA ( LON: ) declined 2.93% or 3.96 points to 131.28 and BHP Group PLC ( LON: ) lost 2.30% or 59.00 points to 2,506.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising stocks with 1000 against 760 on the London Stock Exchange, while 492 were unchanged.
Gold futures for February delivery were down 0.34%, or 6.15%, at $1,819.35 an ounce. In other commodities trading, WTI crude oil futures for January delivery rose 2.84% or 2.14 points to settle at $77.53 a barrel, while the February contract for Brent oil futures rose 2.74% or 2.21 points. and ended at $82.89 per barrel.
The GBP/USD pair added 0.58% to trade at 1.24 levels, while the EUR/GBP pair was unchanged 0.26% to reach 0.86 levels.
Dollar index futures were down 0.26% at 103.29.
