Investing.com – UK stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the London close, it lost 0.19%.
The top performers today were Carnival plc (LON: ), which rose 4.25% or 34.40 points to end at 843.80. Rather, stocks Centrica PLC (LON: ) added 3.38% or 2.82 points to end at 86.28. Melrose Industries plc (LON: ) was up 3.30% or 4.20 points to trade at 131.40 at the end of the session.
In terms of weak performance at the end of the day’s trade, the stock closed down Ocado group PLC (LON: ) declined 16.79% or 155.40 points to trade at 770.20 at the close. Vodafone Group ( LON: ) declined 7.94% or 8.27 points to 95.89 while Abrdn PLC ( LON: ) shed 3.66% or 7.50 points to 197.40.
The number of decliners outnumbered the risers with 1001 on the London Stock Exchange compared to 808, while 508 were unchanged.
Shares of Vodafone Group ( LON: ) traded down 7.94% or 8.27 points to trade at 95.89.
Gold futures for December delivery were down 0.24%, or 4.30%, at $1,772.60 an ounce. In other commodities trading, WTI crude oil futures for December delivery rose 1.34% or 1.15 points to settle at $87.02 a barrel, while Brent oil futures for January were up 1.10% or 1.02 points. points, and closed at $94.16 a barrel.
The GBP/USD pair added 1.04% to trade at 1.19 levels, while the EUR/GBP pair was unchanged 0.49% to reach 0.87 levels.
Dollar index futures were down 0.25% to trade at 106.26.
