“We have five million citizens from Hungary. We have been saying for months that if we want to restore our previous lives, we can successfully defend ourselves against the virus by vaccination,” said the Prime Minister of Hungary.
Urban stressed that after the vaccination has reached five million people, there is no need to wear a veil on the streets. “We can say goodbye to the hijab,” the Hungarian prime minister added.
The Chinese company Sinopharm (4.5 million) provided the largest number of vaccines to Hungary, followed by Pfizer (3.5 million doses), Sputnik V (2 million), AstraZeneca (1.2 million) and Moderna (432,000).
The Hungarian government previously announced that once the number of vaccinations is reached, it will lift the night curfew, shops and restaurants will not have limited working hours, outdoor curtains will not be required, special family events for up to 50 people and weddings for up to 200 people, Outdoor cultural events can be attended by a maximum of 500 people, but indoor events must be proven with a vaccination card.
In Hungary, 647 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 occurred on Saturday and 48 people died. Hospitals have 1,500 patients with COVID-19, of whom 183 are lung ventilators. Since the start of the epidemic, 801,672 people have tested positive in the country and a total of 29,475 people have died.
