The market for masks is now in full swing in the literal sense of the word. But last spring, the Czechs were forced to quickly purchase hundreds of millions of FFP2 and FFP3 respirators to protect healthcare professionals from the spread of COVID-19. Over time, respirators reached ordinary people in great numbers. Ventilators began to be sold in pharmacies and supermarkets. And since wearing a dual muzzle is mandatory, its consumption has risen sharply.
In the past, the media referred to some companies supplying ventilators that did not comply with the declared quality. And, as Deník N has now discovered, Good Mask also has a problem with the quality of its respirators. It operates 30 production lines for the production of ventilators. Twenty-six of them are from China, and four are from Autoland Taiwanese company. It acquired product lines from Taiwan after Senate President Milos Vesterel (ODS) visited the country. Good Mask also owns the same Masanta owner, who has successfully tendered to provide schools with antigen tests.
Good Mask was created last year at the end of April. At that time, she did not have the necessary documents to sell ventilators. So the European Commission allowed exceptions regarding the pandemic at that time – companies that introduced unapproved products to the European market were allowed to “certify” them for a certain period of time.
An unexpected problem before schools open: The state only has tests for children and teachers for two weeks
So, at the beginning of June last year, Good Mask applied to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority for an exemption and began a series of tests in a notified laboratory – the Occupational Safety Research Institute. However, the certification, which explains the quality of the ventilator, was not completed until February this year.
In the meantime, Good Mask supplied the market with respirators, which, according to company owner Martin Ladyr, would have met the FFP2 class – in this case, the efficiency of the half-filter mask should not be less than 94 percent, otherwise it is a low-quality class.
