And it was said: “It was named so because of the prudence in it from Abraham about the slaughter of his son Ismail, peace be upon them.” Allama al-Ayni said in “Al-Banna’ Sharh Al-Hidaya” (4/211): [وإنما سمي يوم التروية بذلك؛ لأن إبراهيم صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآله وسَلَّمَ رأى ليلة الثامن كأنَّ قائلًا يقول له: “إن الله تعالى يأمرك بذبح ابنك”، فلما أصبح رؤي، أي: افتكر في ذلك من الصباح إلى الرواح؛ أمِنَ الله هذا، أم من الشيطان؟ فمِن ذلك سمي يوم التروية].
