The fastest electric car is the Croatian Rimac

The record-breaking ride took place at the Papenburg velodrome, Germany, famous for its four-kilometer straights. The Rimac Nevera is set to the maximum speed mode, which reduces drag and at the same time has enough downforce to ensure stability.

Miro Zrnevich, Rimac’s lead test and development driver, made full use of the 1,408 kW, 1,914 hp and 2,360 Nm of torque of the four electric motor system. They draw power from a 120 kWh battery. Like all customer cars, the record-breaking car was shod with Michelin Cup 2R tires.

In addition to holding the record for the fastest speed among electric cars, the Rimac Nevera is also the fastest production car in the quarter-mile race, which it completes in 8.582 seconds.

The vehicle delivered to the customer has a top speed limited to 350 km/h, but can theoretically be modified to 412 km/h under controlled conditions on special events supported by the automaker.

The fastest of them are still petrol ones

Although the Nevera is the fastest mass-produced electric car in the world, it is relatively far from the fastest mass-produced “combustion engines”.

The 1,341 hp Koenigsegg Agera RS is the world’s fastest production car with a top speed of 447 km/h measured in 2017. It surpassed the 431 km/h mark set by the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport in 2010.

However, there are also some super sports with higher top speeds. In 2019, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ reached a speed of 490.5 km/h, but this drive was only recorded in one direction.

And in 2020, the American car SSC Tuatara reached a speed of 455 km / h, but it was not compatible with road traffic.
