The International Astronomy Center in Abu Dhabi has determined Monday, May 2, the first day of Eid al-Fitr in most Arab and Islamic countries, based on astronomical calculations.

As for the countries that started the month of Ramadan on Sunday, April 03, including the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran and Ghana, they will investigate the crescent on Sunday, May 01, corresponding to Ramadan 29.
According to the center’s statement, “Seeing the crescent on that day is possible with the naked eye relatively easily from the United States and Central America, and therefore it is expected that the majority of countries that will investigate the crescent on Sunday will announce that the number of Ramadan is 29 days, and that Monday, May 2, is the first of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid Al-Fitr. In which”.
Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, Director of the Center, said: “For the countries that will investigate the crescent on Sunday, May 01, sighting the crescent on that day is not possible by any means from the continent of Australia and its environs, and it is only possible with a telescope from central and western Asia, most of Europe and southern Africa.. It is also possible with the naked eye with difficulty from the African continent except for its south, western Europe, northern America and central South America.
As for the countries where “the Eid is expected to be on Tuesday, May 03, they are India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.”
