It has no turbo or electric support, yet it is the most powerful stand-alone power unit the car has ever received with a tailstock. And it is not only the best, the machine with a unique design is also the height of aerodynamic development, without a single active component.

Tilts or open any headlights are things we miss in new cars, and we thought we’d have to deal with it. It’s not that it’s not “design trends” or anything similar, it’s basically a problematic solution in terms of safety for unwary pedestrians. And while the front of the car is more streamlined when it’s hidden, it’s just the opposite when tilted. Both sides simply do not understand modern cars.

The new Ferrari, the third Specialization (hence the name SP3) from the Ferrari Icona, which attempts to build on iconic historical models such as the 330 P3/4, 350 Can-Am, 512 S and other racing machines in particular, might be more surprising. . And while at first glance it may seem like another shallow-looking specialty based on current models that “snack” a few million dollars from the accounts of many wealthy collectors around the world, the reality is quite different in this case.

In appearance, this car – we think – probably will not please everyone, because it combines the already controversial design of the latest models with many retro elements. However, some interesting ideas are undeniable, such as the characteristic ribbing at the rear, where the taillights are integrated almost invisibly. But the most visible lights are the lights at the other end of the car.

Ferrari wanted to remember the times of the “blinkers”, but at the same time could not ignore the above. The car has and does not have such lights, although most of its area can be covered by a flat capable of driving into the bowels of the front hood, which does not change the initial shape of the car. Yes, it’s useless at the moment, it’s just a game, and as a result, this solution better explains why taillights are not back in the game – they can shine brilliantly today, even if they are not, and at the same time be perfect aerodynamic. However, we feel it is a beautiful memory.

But rational car enthusiasts will eventually take other aspects into consideration. Although, as the car’s full name implies, the Daytona SP3 doesn’t use a single component of active aerodynamics, it is said to be the most aerodynamic car Ferrari has ever made. It just shows how much attention has been given to its development and that it can connect the past with the present in a very technically efficient way.

Ultimately, this also applies to the drivetrain, which is taken care of by a modified F140HC aka 6.5 V12 without any supercharging or electrostimulator, which still delivers up to 840 hp and 697 Nm of torque. In addition, it spins up to 9500 rpm (maximum power up to 250 rpm below). It’s the most powerful stand-alone power unit ever put under the hood of a Ferrari, and accordingly it’s certainly very light (the exact number but we don’t know) a hundred – 2.86 seconds and two hundred in 7.4 s are still numbers from the realm of fantasy. At the same time, power is directed only to the rear wheels, of course via a dual-clutch automatic.

If you’re interested in a vehicle like this that we don’t see, we’ve got some bad news. The first is priced at 2 million euros, or about 51 million CZK. But okay, maybe some of them should, but the car is still completely sold out. All 499 buyers of the previous SP1 and SP2 Monza models also wanted a Dayton, and in addition, Ferrari would produce only 100 cars, which were also pre-cannonballed by regular customers before the premiere. It’s just a slightly different world, where the vast majority of us never look.
