SpaceX is preparing to launch its Falcon 9 X rocket for 2022, according to a digitaltrend report.
The mission to deploy another set of 48 Starlink Internet satellites from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) in Cape Canaveral, Florida is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 9.
The first stage of the Falcon 9 booster supporting the mission launched Arabsat-6A, STP-2 and COSMO-SkyMed second-generation FM2 satellites, its last flight on January 22.
The first booster stage on Wednesday’s mission will return to Earth minutes after the stage separated, landing on the A Shortfall of Gravitas drone ship stationed in the Atlantic.
The safe landing will allow SpaceX to use the vehicle on a fifth mission. The ability to reuse the boosters is a key part of SpaceX’s business plan, as the strategy allows it to generate significant savings in launch costs compared to missions where the first stage is ignored.
SpaceX has recently increased the frequency of its launches, as 2022 will be its busiest year yet. What to expect Besides the amazing launch, several mission-tracking cameras will also show the rocket rushing into space, stage separation, enhanced landing, and satellite deployment.
HOW TO WATCH Conditions permitting, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida today, Wednesday, March 9, and any schedule changes will be shared on the SpaceX Twitter account.
And you can watch the early stages of the mission by heading over to SpaceX’s YouTube channel for the same feed.
While many of SpaceX’s launches are geared toward increasing the number of satellites in its Starlink constellation, they also provide launch services to organizations and companies that want to put their satellites into orbit.
And in the coming weeks it may have the opportunity to conduct the first launch of a next-generation Starship, which could one day carry astronauts to the Moon, Mars, and possibly beyond.
