The Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives recommended, during its meeting today, Tuesday, chaired by Representative Muhammad Al-Husseini, the committee’s deputy, the Ministry of Local Development to inform the committee within 15 days of the vacant agricultural reform lands, stressing the possibility of benefiting from these lands in a number of service and development projects.

This came during the committee’s discussion of a request for briefing submitted by Representative Ibrahim Owais regarding the need for the Qalyubia governorate to issue a decision excluding the establishment of public benefit cemeteries for a fee for the people of the village of Sindion on an area of ​​four acres in plot 82 in Hawd Ali Badawi “state property”, due to the cemeteries committee’s refusal to do so. the site.

Representative Ibrahim Owais pointed out, during the review of the request for briefing at the meeting, that there is no alternative site, saying: “Half of the current cemeteries will be removed to widen the Cairo-Alexandria road.”

And the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qalyubia Governorate, Khaled Al-Khatib, confirmed that the site does not conform to the specifications, explaining that the topic was previously presented in 2021, and another inspection in March 2023, and indicated the need for distances between the cemetery site of 100 meters from water sources, and 200 meters.

Al-Khatib said that the site is surrounded by a water source 9 meters away, in addition to the absence of the requirement of a distance of 200 meters from all sides between the residential area and the site.

Representative Muhammad Al-Husseini, deputy of the Local Administration Committee, commented, saying: “The health response blew up the issue.” He indicated that the committee will start discussing the amendment of the cemetery law next Tuesday, continuing: “We amend in favor of the people, the laws are amended according to the requirements and interests of the Egyptian state, we amend in line with the common good and the citizen.

He stressed the need to work on finding alternatives, pointing to the possibility of benefiting from the agrarian reform space lands, and recommended the Ministry of Local Development to inform the committee within 15 days of the agrarian reform space lands, and cited his experience in the Bulaq al-Dakrour constituency and the approval of the Prime Minister to allocate vacant land owned by the agrarian reform to establish New schools.
