The automaker wants to test the technologies in a new concept that could later increase the efficiency of traditional electric road vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz, like many other automakers, has revealed an ambitious plan this year to move to pure electric mobility in all markets where feasible by 2030. At the same time, this is expected to be possible in most Western and Central European countries. .
Besides its electric vision, the automaker has also introduced several electric concepts to represent an electric alternative to classic models with internal combustion engines, and has also announced the development of a very economical pure-electric project called Vision EQXX.
According to initial estimates, the range of this electric concept was about 1,200 km, but later the automaker set its goal of more than 1,000 km in a real environment. Today, Marcus Schaefer, Mercedes-Benz COO, announced that the unveiling of the vehicle will take place on January 3, 2022.
„As many of you know, for some time we have been working to transform our strategic ambition to “lead electric driving” into a car. Now the Vision EQXX should become the most economical electric car we’ve ever built – with a real range of over 1,000 km. I am very pleased to introduce it to the public very soon – Jan 3, 2022,Schaefer said.
Alongside this announcement, Chevre also boasted the first image of the Vision EQXX, which should be a “compact electric car”. Its battery should have a density that is 20% higher than the current EQS model. Then it should be able to travel more than 1,000 km in a real environment on a single charge, and its consumption at normal highway speeds should be a single digit number of kWh/100 km.
Perhaps no one believes that the project can turn into a production car, but it is practically certain that the technologies acquired and used in its development will eventually appear in production models.
