The movie “Super Mario” reaps revenues exceeding one billion dollars in the world

The movie “The Super Mario Brothers. Movie” continues to top the box office in North America, with revenues exceeding one billion dollars around the world, in the first similar result recorded by a movie for this year, according to preliminary figures released by the specialized company, “Experience Relations” on Sunday.

The animated film, based on the video game of the same name and produced by Universal Studios, Nintendo and Illumination, grossed $40 million last weekend in Canada and the United States, keeping it at the top of the North American box office.

Since hitting theaters over the Easter weekend, the film has taken in $490 million in North America and an additional $532 million in other countries, according to Examiner Relations. And its total global revenues amounted to $ 1.02 billion in four weeks.

The specialized magazine “Hollywood Reporter” indicated that this work is the first movie to exceed one billion dollars in revenue this year, and the tenth animation movie to achieve similar revenues at all.

And the movie “Evil Dead Rises” produced by “Warner Brothers” came second in the ranking, achieving in its second weekend revenues of $ 12.2 million.

Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland star in the film as two sisters who battle a group of demonic creatures.

And in third place was “Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret,” a teenage comedy-drama based on one of the books by novelist Judy Blume, with revenues of $6.8 million. “It’s a good start,” said film analyst David Gross.

And the fourth place went to the movie “John Wick: Chapter 4”, which began showing six weeks ago, with revenues of five million dollars. In this new sequel to the popular “John Wick” series, Keanu Reeves plays a professional killer who fights against an international criminal group.
