The new Ford Ranger also arrives in a Raptor version, its sound is very interesting

There was no mention of the Raptor in the official materials, but Ford cleverly hid the information at the online premiere.

The unveiling of the fourth generation Ford Ranger today has provided the technical specifications so far, which is not surprising given the planned launch in 2023. However, we were a little surprised that there was no mention of the Raptor model in the official materials, which is finally an integral part from the European offer.

However, Blue Oval still relies on the Raptor, which was only discreetly announced during an online livestream. Meanwhile, he published a QR code, which after scanning led viewers to a hidden page of Ford’s Australian office, which was tasked with developing the new Ranger.

There is only one video on the page that does not show much – only the date of 02.2022. However, a very interesting engine sound is heard against it, which clearly confirms that the premiere of the sharpened Ranger Raptor will take place in February next year. We obviously have something to look forward to.

The sound of the engine did not match the sound of the two times supercharged diesel engine fitted to the current Ranger Raptor, nor the sound of the 2.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine fitted to the American Ford Ranger. The unit looked more like a supercharged V6 gasoline engine, which has not yet been mentioned in official Ford materials.

For now, we know the new-generation Ranger will be equipped with two versions of the 2-liter diesel engine, while one will offer dual supercharging, which will complement the 3.0-liter diesel’s six-cylinder fork. As an alternative, Americans can get a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder gasoline.

However, if the impressions of the revealed sound are confirmed and the new Ranger Raptor is already equipped with a six-cylinder petrol fork, then according to foreign colleagues it could be either the 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost from the new Bronco or the 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost from the Ford Explorer ST.

The power unit from the Ford Bronco can deliver the highest output of around 330 hp and up to 560 Nm, while the larger six-cylinder Explorer ST can turn production up to 400 hp and 560 Nm. That is, depending on the fuel used and of course tuning to the needs of pickup users.

It’s too early to speculate whether the gasoline Ranger Raptor will also make it to Europe or whether we’ll get a diesel or a hybrid dinosaur. However, the press release has already indicated that the redesigned bow will allow the installation of new propulsion units. The plug-in hybrid drive for the new Ranger has been talked about for a long time. But now we can’t help but wait for what Ford will bring us in February.
