It is likely that BMW will present a new generation of the 5 Series. Next year, it should also show a sports version of the M5. It is said that after a long hiatus it will also arrive as a station wagon!
The last M5 with a larger luggage compartment was the E61 generation with ten-fork cylinders, produced between 2006 and 2010. Before that, there was still the M5 Touring in the E34 generation (1992 to 1995).
According to older information from the Bimmer Post website, which deals with events surrounding the BMW brand, the sedan should arrive in July 2024, and the station wagon in November. Both versions will likely rely on plug-in hybrid technology, which will likely be the same found in the bowels of the XM SUV.
The system consists of a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine with two turbochargers and two electric motors. In the XM plug-in hybrid system, it delivers a combined output of 480 kW and 800 Nm of torque. But we are talking about the “basic” version. Section M prepares a more powerful variant with an output of 550 kW and a torque of 1,000 Nm.
Thus the new BMW M5 can deliver 650 to 750 horsepower. Perhaps we can count on four-wheel drive.
And what design? Nicolás Cavero, who manages the Instagram profile, presents his vision of the new M5 Touring Cars of the future now. Its design is based on available photos and footage of camouflaged prototypes taken during testing. Nicolás assumes that the M5 Touring will receive the relatively small kidney stones by current BMW standards, adding simple headlights and a distinctive front bumper.
The rear bumper is also eye-catching, which is complemented by four round exhaust tips and a large air diffuser. There are muscular fenders, resting arms, and note the charging port in the left front bumper. So the designer also expects the new M5 to be a plug-in hybrid.
So what do you say, would you like the new BMW M5 Touring to look like this?
“Proud twitter enthusiast. Introvert. Hardcore alcohol junkie. Lifelong food specialist. Internet guru.”
