The Pentagon: 10 missiles targeted an American base in Syria after the march attack

(CNN) – The Pentagon announced, on Friday, that 10 missiles targeted an American base in Syria, on Friday morning, one day after an Iranian drone attack on the base killed an American contractor and wounded 6 other American soldiers.

The missiles come after the United States responded with a retaliatory strike targeting facilities used by militias affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The Pentagon said, in a statement: “On the morning of March 24, at approximately 8:05 local time, 10 missiles targeted the coalition forces in the Green Village in northeastern Syria.”

The Green Village base is located in northeastern Syria, and about 900 American soldiers are stationed in Syria.

The statement added, “The attack did not result in casualties among US or coalition forces, and no damage was caused to the facilities.”

He stressed, “As President (Joe) Biden has made clear, we will take all necessary measures to defend our people and we will always respond at the time and place of our choosing.”

CNN reported earlier that two soldiers were treated at the site, while the other three were transferred to medical facilities in Iraq, and officials said their condition was stable.

In the aftermath of the march attack, the commander of the US Central Command, General Eric Korella, said Thursday that the United States could carry out additional strikes if necessary, and added: “We are ready to counter any additional Iranian attacks.”
