The Polish owner of Unipetrol quadrupled its quarterly profit thanks to the acquisition of a competitor

Sales doubled in the third quarter to nearly 73 billion zlotys from 36.4 billion a year earlier.

PKN Orlen operates refineries in Poland, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. The company is based in Blok and since 2018 is the sole owner of the Czech petrochemical holding Orlen Unipetrol, which also includes the Orlen Gas Petrol Station network.

On Tuesday, PKN Orlen published the results of Orlen Unipetrol, whose net profit in the first three quarters of this year increased by 508 percent year-on-year to 2.616 billion zlotys (about 13.6 billion CZK). Sales rose by 82 percent to nearly 30 billion zlotys (about 156 billion kronor).

Orlen Unipetrol Group is the largest refining and petrochemical company in the Czech Republic. It focuses on oil processing, production, distribution and sale of fuels and petrochemical products – mainly plastics and fertilizers. In all these areas, it belongs to the important players in the Czech and Central European markets.

The Orlen Unipetrol group includes refineries and production plants in Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou, the Paramo company in Pardubice, the non-ferrous metals company Spolana and two research centers in Litvínov and Brno.
