The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council welcomed the Joint Meeting between the Ministers of Commerce of the GCC Countries and the Minister of International Trade in the United Kingdom.

Riyadh, June 21 (PNA) Dr. Naib Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary-General of the Council for Cooperation for the Gulf Arab States, welcomed the joint meeting between the Ministers of Commerce of their respective GCC States. The United Kingdom’s Minister of International Trade, Anne-Marie Travel, will attend the 62nd Meeting of the Cooperation Council on Trade, which will be held in Riyadh tomorrow.


The Secretary-General stressed the great interest in strengthening economic and trade relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United Kingdom, and commended the joint efforts of both sides to continue the consultations and working groups initiated in light of the outcome of the meeting. On October 8, 2021, in the British capital London, the two sides reaffirmed their interest in initiating negotiations for a free trade agreement between His Excellency the Secretary-General and the Minister of International Trade. Represents a major turning point in the historical and strategic Gulf-British relations, and is regarded as an excellent model in various fields of politics, economy, trade, investment, culture and education.


The Secretary-General pointed out that the Cooperation Council and the United Kingdom are strategic partners and are working to launch a new phase and to open boundaries of trust to serve the common good.
