The sports version of the VW ID.3 electric car is likely to arrive with an update next year.

Ralf Brandstätter, who has been head of the Volkswagen brand since July 2020, confirmed during last year’s Mobility Show in Munich that the ID.X sports hatchback concept has been given the green light and will focus on production. “A decision has been made. We already have information from the past that the ID.3 model is scheduled to be updated for 2023. However, ID.3 GTX is currently expected to take over the technology from ID.4 GTX. All-wheel drive will be maintained via a pair of electric motors, as will the usable capacity of the battery, but combined power can drop to 220 kW (299 hp). This combination allows the larger ID.4 GTX to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.

It is also worth noting that the ID.3 GTX may not be the only electric vehicle addition to the lineup. In the past, there was speculation that the ID.3 model might lose its roof and become the basis of the ID.3 Cabriolet electric convertible.
