The Southern Transitional Council in Yemen announced that it had ordered its negotiators to suspend all forms of communication with the other party in the ongoing discussions on completing the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

The council’s spokesman, Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, said in a statement issued today, Saturday, that this measure comes against the background of “the continuation of the Muslim Brotherhood militias occupying the Shabwa governorate practices of terrorism, intimidation and aggression against the people of the governorate.”

The statement states that these militias from the governorates of Marib and Al-Jawf stormed the arena of a peaceful popular event organized in the Nisab district of Abadan district in Shabwa on June 26, in rejection of the “aggressive and oppressive approach practiced by these militias through intermittent operations, warring, incursions into villages and homes, and continuous kidnappings against the people of Shabwa.” and the South in general.

The Transitional Council stressed that it considers these practices to undermine the Riyadh Agreement and efforts to complete its implementation, adding: “Therefore, the representatives of the Council find, in the consultations to implement the agreement, that the other party intends to thwart the efforts of the brothers to stop the escalation and implement the agreement.”

Accordingly, the statement stated: “Accordingly, the Southern Transitional Council calls on its representatives in the talks to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement to stop all forms of communication and direct contact with the other party, so that the Shabwah governorate file is placed at the forefront of the priorities for implementing the Riyadh Agreement and the situation in it is fully addressed.”
