The Saif bin Zayed Academy of Police and Security Sciences, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, organized a workshop entitled “Zayed’s Ambition Mission”, which aims to present and highlight the most important national achievements, which are the pride of the nation.
Astronauts Hazza Al Mansouri, astronauts Sultan Al Neyadi and Hamid Al Sharhan participated in the workshop, in Sheikh Mubarak Hall at the Police Departments Complex.
Major General Thani Butti Al Shamsi, Director of the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Policing and Security Sciences, expressed his pride in hosting the sons of Zayed, who fulfilled the dream and ambition of the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who dates back to 1974 when he received the agency’s team American space agency “NASA”.
He added, “We are witnessing an exceptional experience to explore space with the enthusiasm of the people of the country, in which they raised the flag of the United Arab Emirates among the nations, thanks to the support of our wise leadership, and the insistence on realizing Zayed’s dream and the dream of every member of society.”
Astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri stated that the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center was established in 2015 to be a major part of the strategic initiative aimed at supporting scientific innovations and technical progress and advancing sustainable development in the UAE. Coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the state union, the historical project embodies the hopes and dreams of the Arab world in space.
He added, I was chosen to be the main astronaut on the launch mission to the space station, and thus became the first Emirati to go to the International Space Station, and I spent eight days in a Russian space mission, in the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft, and launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The workshop was attended by Brigadier General Dr. Rashid Mohammed Burshid, Deputy Director of the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Policing and Security Sciences, and a number of Abu Dhabi Police employees. The workshop participants visited the exhibition of the Academy’s Virtual Training Center, and were briefed on the most important virtual training projects, simulation systems and smart game applications on display.
