Today, Tuesday, the UAE and Russia signed an agreement to promote the use of outer space for peaceful purposes and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ space agencies in many fields.
The agreement was signed by Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Space Agency, and Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of the Russian Space Corporation “Roscosmos”, on the sidelines of the International Conference on Navigation.
The agreement includes a wide range of aspects of bilateral cooperation at the level of manned space missions, space launch services, satellite communications, biology and medicine in space, new space equipment and technologies, and the legal regulation of space activities.
The UAE Space Agency and the Russian Space Corporation “Roscosmos”, as stipulated in the agreement, cooperate in supporting international efforts aimed at finding solutions to global scientific, technical and legal challenges related to the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, as well as strengthening the governance of space activities and developing and coordinating international space law.
The agreement defines the frameworks between the Emirates Space Agency and the Russian Space Foundation to implement joint space programs, conduct collaborative research, exchange scientific and technical data and information, as well as cooperate in new projects for spacecraft, space systems or their sub-elements, as well as related ground infrastructure in terms of design, manufacturing and testing. launch, control and maintenance.
