Riga Taj Thompson scored and assisted, with the United States winning the fourth match of the World Hockey Championship and beating Norway 2: 1 on Saturday.
Jake Yudinger made 22 interceptions and Connor Carland also scored. The Americans are second in the group, one point behind Finland – who beat the United States in the opening game – with two matches. The top four teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals.
“We finally got to the wire and got a good dose from Norway,” Thompson said. “Our expectations are gold. Don’t expect anything less than this. That’s why we came.”

Finland beat fourth-placed Germany 2: 1, beating Arto Rotschalinen in the middle of the third game.
Roman Starshenko scored twice in the group and provided three assists in Italy’s victory over Kazakhstan 11: 3.
Russia and Slovakia won to top Group A.
Sergei Tolkinsky scored a goal and assisted Russia in the third half with a 4: 1 victory over Switzerland, while Julius Hodak saved 24 times in Slovakia’s 2-0 win over Denmark.
