The United States has welcomed Saudi Arabia’s signing of the “Artemis” contract with NASA to explore the Moon and Mars.

Today, Saturday, the United States welcomed Saudi Arabia’s signing of the “Artemis” contract with the American space agency “NASA”, to join the international coalition in the civilian exploration and use of the moon, Mars, comets and asteroids for peaceful purposes.

Following Saudi Arabia’s accession to the “Artemis” treaty, the United States has renewed its commitment to safe, sustainable and responsible space exploration, according to the official website of the US State Department.

The US State Department said the agreement was signed in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Authority, Engineer Abdullah Bin Amar Al-Saudi, during the visit of US President Joe Biden to Saudi Arabia. The Saudi side was represented at the signing of the agreement by Rima bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sawaha and the United States, and Muhammad bin, Designated CEO of the Saudi Space Agency. Saud al-Tamimi was represented on the US side by US space agency director Bill Nelson.

The U.S. State Department emphasized that the Artemis agreement relies on a broad and diverse international coalition to achieve the historic and ambitious vision for human exploration of space, adding that Saudi Arabia is the 21st signatory to the agreements, joining Australia, Bahrain, and Brazil. , Canada, Colombia, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand and Poland. Romania, Singapore, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and USA.

The signatories will work together to reduce uncertainty and increase the safety of space operations and facilitate the sustainable use of outer space for the benefit of all mankind, the US State Department website said.
