Tottenham Hotspur announced on Friday that goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has renewed his contract for two years.
And it was reported yesterday, Thursday, that the French goalkeeper signed a contract with new conditions with Tottenham until 2024, which was confirmed by the club today through an official statement.
And the British news agency “BA Media” indicated that Lloris, who joined Tottenham in 2012, could have negotiated with any other club from the beginning of January, but the club and the player put an end to speculation that the contract would be renewed until 2024.
The renewal of the contract with Loris is good news for coach Antonio Conte, who was keen to decide the player’s future.
Conte’s taking charge of the team played a major role in Lloris’ survival, as Lloris has great confidence in Conte.
“He is the captain of our team, a first-class goalkeeper for us, he has a lot of experience,” Conte said earlier this January.
Conte added: “He knows Tottenham very well. He loves this shirt and this logo. I see him as an important player and I am confident that the management will find a solution to keep him with Tottenham.”
Lloris, who is providing impressive levels this season, joined Tottenham from Lyon in the summer of 2012 and participated with the team in 395 matches.
Lloris holds the record for participating in the Premier League with Tottenham, and has started in 67 consecutive matches in the league, as of March 2020.
