Former US President Donald Trump considered that “the biggest change he saw in Congress was the transfer of power from legislators under the influence of Israel to anti-Israel politicians.”
In statements to the “570 KVI” radio program, Trump said, “Israel took control of the country’s Congress 10 or 15 years ago, and its influence was very strong, but today, it is almost the opposite.”
Trump criticized Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and other members of the so-called “squad” of progressive Democratic lawmakers in the US Congress, who have firm positions against pro-Israel policy.
“Well, you know the biggest change I’ve seen in Congress is that Israel literally owned Congress, you understand that, 10-15 years ago, and[their influence]was very strong, and today it’s almost the opposite,” Trump added.
He continued, “You have Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Representative Ilhan Omar, and these people who hate Israel… they hate it with passion… They control Congress, and Israel is not a force in Congress anymore, it’s terrible… I’ve never seen such a change from before”.
The announcer told Trump that the Israelis are excited about his re-election, and are thankful for his role in the Ibrahim agreements, which their country signed late last year with Arab countries, including the UAE and Bahrain. Trump joked: “I was told affectionately that I could run for prime minister and win there (in Israel). I didn’t get the votes of the Jews you think I would get in this country (America), many of them don’t like Israel, look at the New York Times.”
For its part, the official Israeli broadcaster, Kan, indicated that “the Jewish Democratic Organization in America condemned Trump’s statements, pointing out that the former president continues to promote “anti-Semitic conspiracy” theories about the so-called Israeli control of the US Congress.
