U.K. stocks ended higher at the close on Tuesday, with gains in the Auto & Parts, Industrial Transportation and Life Insurance sectors led by gains.
At the London close, Britain’s 100 was up 0.73%.
Among the leading stocks in Britain today, 100 stocks emerged Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which was up 5.65% or 66.00 points to trade at 1,235.00 at the close. Rather, stocks Ocado group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 4.57% or 30.60 points to end at 700.00. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.07% or 58.00 points to trade at 1,483.00 at the end of the session.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet plc (LON:EZJ), which lost 2.63% or 10.00 points to trade at 369.80. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.40% or 2.23 points to 90.61 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 1.99% or 41.00 points to 2,020.00.
Gainers outnumbered the number of stocks that closed lower in trade with 1237 compared to 624 on the London Stock Exchange, while 413 were unchanged.
Gold futures for February delivery were up 1.65%, or 29.65%, at $1,821.95 an ounce. In other commodities trading, WTI crude oil futures for January delivery rose 3.42%, or 2.50%, to settle at $75.67 a barrel, while the February contract for Brent oil futures rose 3.64%, or 2.84 points. and closed at $80.83 per barrel.
The GBP/USD pair added 0.77% to trade at 1.24 levels, while the EUR/GBP pair was unchanged 0.04% to reach 0.86 levels.
