Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as indicators were lower and losses in the sector led to losses.

At the London close, it was down 0.69%.

The stock emerged today among the leading stocks Ocado group PLC (LON: ), which rose 6.34% or 40.20 points to trade at 674.20 at the close. On the contrary, J. Shares Sainsbury’s PLC (LON: ) subsequently rose 4.46% or 9.30 points to end at 218.00. ITV PLC (LON: ) added 4.05% or 2.78 points to trade at 71.38 at the end of the session.

On weak performance at the end of today’s trade, GSK plc (LON: ) lost 4.72% or 68.20 points to trade at 1,377.40 at the close. Arrow Centrica PLC (LON:) declined 4.13% or 3.30 points to 76.62 while Carnival PLC (LON:) declined 3.65% or 25.60 points to 676.60.

Gains outnumbered the number of shares that closed lower in trade with 1171 compared to 672 on the London Stock Exchange, which was unchanged at 447.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.20%, or 3.35, to settle at $1,679.95 an ounce. In other commodities trading, WTI crude futures for December delivery fell 0.22%, or 0.20, to settle at $92.41 a barrel, and Brent crude futures for January settled down 0.22%, or 0.22 points, at $98.35. Barrel.

The GBP/USD pair added 1.25% to trade at the 1.15 level, while the EUR/GBP continued its slide of 0.58% to reach the 0.87 level.
