We will announce our position on the future of the International Space Station after responding to our request to lift Western sanctions

The Director General of the Russian Space Agency “Roskosmos”, Dmitry Rogozin, confirmed that the announcement of the position on the future of the International Space Station will take place after the response to the request to lift Western sanctions against Russian space companies.

According to the Russia Today website, Rogozin made it clear that the decision to continue using the International Space Station will be taken on March 31, based on responses received from NASA and the European and Canadian agencies regarding the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on the Russian space company “Tsnimash” and the Russian Progress Center for Space Missiles.

He added, “We are waiting for NASA and the European and Canadian agencies for a response to our proposal to lift the mentioned sanctions. If you ignore or send us unclear answers, we will express our position on the future of the International Space Station.”

The site pointed out that Rogozin’s statements came during the commemoration event for the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and his co-pilot, Vladimir Seryugin, which was held on March 27 in the area of their deaths.

Rogozin also noted that the US side wants to continue cooperation, including in the field of mutual space flights. He pointed out that there is a civilian position as well as technical positions. “When the US president insults our president and trains Nazi Western advisors who are killing the peaceful population and supplying them with munitions, I can’t imagine that everything in space is OK,” he explained.

The Russian Space Agency, Roscosmos, had earlier sent a request to its partners in operating the International Space Station, to lift sanctions, in order to avoid the risk of crashing the International Space Station, after the Russian Space Agency, along with other Russian institutions, was subjected to Western sanctions in recent weeks against the background of the special military operation. Conducted by Moscow in Ukraine.
