Who will study the methodology of philosophy and critical thinking?

Yesterday, the Ministry of Education announced the implementation of the development paths project for the occupants of educational jobs, which will start in the middle of the current Dhu al-Hijjah, to qualify and train teachers for a period of between 15 and 24 days, to teach other subjects close to their specialties to fill the deficit in them, through the National Center for Educational Professional Development in exchange for granting them financial privileges. And professionally, “Makkah” learned that the two subjects of critical thinking and philosophy, which will begin to be taught to secondary school students with the start of the next semester, will be assigned to teachers from disciplines such as history, geography, psychology, sociology and Arabic language, after they complete a training program for the course of the subject they wish to teach. .

The information indicated that this is the appropriate option at the present time, due to the absence or lack of Saudi graduates in philosophy and logic, as there are no faculties in universities in Saudi Arabia currently, and also due to the closure of the door to attract non-Saudi teachers from other countries.

For his part, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Religions at King Faisal University, Dr. Hani Al-Mulhim, told the newspaper, “The history of philosophy revolves around wisdom and love of science, and it presents it from multiple schools, currents and sects, different and conflicting, serving the recognition of the human’s status as a thinking and active being, and it is a tool for the advancement of cultures and peoples.

He praised the Ministry of Education’s approval of teaching critical thinking and philosophy, which teaches the generations independence to build moderate, coexisting, questioning and rational thought that rooted knowledge and skill, especially for high school age swings in the crowdedness of social media and its impact, which needs to root pre-cognitive skill thinking. So why start a course that not every student can bear and definitely will need help with homework?

On the training of teachers from other disciplines to teach these two subjects, Al-Mulhim commented that this stage requires intensive training based on motivation and creativity, and it must be conducted by specialized trainers, since philosophy is a specialized science, and some have a negative stereotypical idea about it.

The expected impact of teaching philosophy and logic on students, according to al-Mulhim:
