“You have the responsibility of an entire country. Do you love the Houthis? Go to Aden and leave Lebanon as it is.”

The Lebanese actress, Elissa, attacked her country’s Minister of Information, George Kordahi, after the recent repercussions of the Lebanese Minister of Information’s statements, which resulted in the severing of relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, as well as the cessation of all Lebanese imports to the Kingdom.

On her Twitter page, Elissa published a tweet, in which she held the minister responsible for the recent developments triggered by his positions. She considered that Qardahi’s statements did not represent Lebanon, its politics, affiliation, or line, and called on him to leave the country and go to those who support them, in reference to the Houthi militia.

She wrote: “George Qardahi puts your responsibility on the shoulders of a whole country behind statements that do not represent Lebanon’s policy, step, or affiliation. Do you love Assad and the Houthis? Go to Aden and leave Lebanon as you are, your government and your axis.”

This came after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced, on Friday, the summoning of the ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Lebanese Republic for consultations, and the departure of the Lebanese ambassador to the Kingdom within the next 48 hours.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the insulting statements to the Kingdom issued by the Lebanese Minister of Information represent a new cycle of reprehensible and rejected positions issued by Lebanese officials towards the Kingdom and its policies, in addition to the slanderous statements and the reversal and falsification of facts.

It is noteworthy that the statements of Qardahi, a former TV journalist, caused a sensation on social media, as many tweeters attacked him with force.

While the Lebanese government expressed its rejection of his words, stressing that “it does not express its official position at all, especially with regard to the Yemeni issue and Lebanon’s relations with its Arab brothers.”
